Vocations

The Vocations Office of the Archdiocese first and foremost supports and encourages the living out of one’s Baptismal Vocation.  In a particular way the vocations office mandate is to foster, promote and encourage vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood.   The Vocations Office does this by providing promotion material to parishes around the archdiocese, sponsoring the St. John Vianney Vocations Support Group, and supporting men who are currently in the seminary or are in the process of discerning a call to priesthood.

The Vocations office under the Leadership of the Archbishop works to create a culture within out local church in which Vocations to the Priesthood are talked about, prayed for and encouraged.  The Vocations office also works with Seminaries in Canada and the USA, to form, educate and support our seminarians.    Vocations to the Priesthood is something that we all need to be aware of; as Catholics in the Archdiocese it is our responsibility to call forth vocations from our parishes and to encourage men to answer the call of Christ to Serve him and his people at the Altar, just as he called the fishermen from the shores of the Sea Galilee.
