Edwin Riggs MSW, RSW
Edwin is a registered Clinical Social Worker with over twenty-five years of experience. He holds a Master of Social Work Degree, a Bachelor of Social Work & a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Edwin has extensive experience in the area of child, adolescent, and adult mental health. He has worked in the public and private sectors and enjoys teaching as a workshop facilitator to second year medical students at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a trained ASSIST suicide intervention facilitator.
In his practice, Edwin integrates many theoretical approaches including narrative therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, family systems therapy, and anti-oppressive practice with emphasis on resiliency and hope. His clinical practice uses a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach with a focus on improving communication and relationships. His focus is on helping individuals to have cognitive and emotional awareness with emphasis on healthy coping within the context of their natural environments.
Edwin delivers the “When you See Red for Men”, eight week group at Ruah Counselling Centre.
