Our condolences on the passing of Fr. Patrick Power

Archbishop Hundt and the Archdiocese of St. John's express our condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Fr. Rev. Fr. Patrick Joseph Power

December 08, 1955 - April 08, 2020

​Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with cancer. Fr. Pat. served in several parishes during his thirty-six years in the priesthood. 

He was associate pastor in Marystown, associate pastor in St. Joseph’s in St. John’s, parish priest in Rushoon, St. Bride’s, Fox Harbour, St. Mary’s Bay, Witless Bay, Bay Bulls, Mary Queen of the World, Mt. Pearl and his last parishes were St. Patrick’s, St. John’s and St. John Bosco Parish, Shea Heights.

Predeceased by his loving and devoted parents Julia Lake Power and Timothy Power. Left with loving memories are his many cousins, especially Amanda and his many friends, parishioners and staff from all the parishes. 

His Grace Archbishop Peter Hundt, his Brother Priests, the congregation of Christian Brothers, Presentation and Mercy Sisters and Knight’s of Columbus.

He was a kind and gentle soul, a great sense of humor loved by all. He lived as he died believing in God. Fr. Pat was a board member and supporter of Centre for Life, a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Let’s make a Choir. He enjoyed his occasional trip to Florida and was an avid fan of Sci-Fi on the Rock.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Due to the current public health advisory Covid-19, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation, Vigil, Mass of Christian Burial and social (sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Terra Nova Council #1452 and Archbishop Howley Assembly 0623) will be celebrated at a time to be announced. Inurnment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
