Vocations

The Vocations Office of the Archdiocese first and foremost supports and encourages the living out of one’s Baptismal Vocation.

In a particular way the vocations office mandate is to foster, promote and encourage vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood. The Vocations Office does this by providing promotion material to parishes around the archdiocese, sponsoring the St. John Vianney Vocations Support Group, and supporting men who are currently in the seminary or are in the process of discerning a call to priesthood.

Under the Leadership of the Archbishop we work to create a culture within out local church in which Vocations to the Priesthood are talked about, prayed for and encouraged. The Vocations office also works with Seminaries in Canada and the USA, to form, educate and support our seminarians.

Vocations to the Priesthood is something that we all need to be aware of; as Catholics in the Archdiocese it is our responsibility to call forth vocations from our parishes and to encourage men to answer the call of Christ to Serve him and his people at the Altar, just as he called the fishermen from the shores of the Sea Galilee.

We Welcome You

  • What am I supposed to do with my life?
  • What does God want with me?
  • What is priesthood, what does a priest do?
  • How do I become a priest, how do I know God is calling me to be a priest?

If any of these questions sound familiar then you have come to the right place.

Discovering God’s will for us, answering the question what are we supposed to do with our lives, is a big question? For those who are discerning or considering priesthood your journey has led you here. Christ since he began his public ministry has called and is calling people to minister in his name. Some are called to serve him as ministerial priests. I hope our web site helps you further discover God’s will for you. I invite you to take your time and explore the website, and pray, pray, pray.

Listen to the Words of Christ:

And passing along by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. and Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you become fishers of people.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. And immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and followed him.

Mark 1:16-20

It is only when we are in conversation with God through prayer that we will discover his call for us, and our ability and willingness to answer that call.
