Jubilee of Prisoners
Pope Francis has declared Sunday, November 6, 2016 as the Jubilee of Prisoners. He will be visiting prisons and prisoners in Rome on that day, and encouraging all of us to pray for those who are imprisoned, and for those harmed and scarred by crime in any way.
Do you know the Archdiocese provides the services of a chaplain to HMP?
The ministry offers a safe place for inmates to talk about the past and plan for the future. Our chaplain helps inmates continue a relationship with their families, especially children, through a project that allows the men to record bedtime stories to their kids.
We pray for and with those who incarcerated, and walk the journey with them on their release.

Here in the Archdiocese of St. John’s, Archbishop Currie will be honoring the Jubilee of Prisoners by visiting Her Majesty’s Penitentiary to attend a prayer service and to spend time with the men and their chaplain, Gerry Phelan.
“Remember those who are in prison, as if in prison with them”. Hebrews 13:3
